Farewell USA

Well I have been in Europe for almost a week now! I arrived here March 10th, with my parents. While my parents were here, we roamed the streets of Prague. After our seven hour flight from Minneapolis to Paris I felt so dead. Fortunately for us we did not see a colonial woman on the wing and she was not churning butter!! (BridesMaid reference) Initially arriving in Prague I felt such a culture shock. We were the minority, it was such a weird feeling. I was just ready to take a nap right away but instead we decided to walk around and get used to it. After 36 hours of no sleep and two bottles of wine later, we were wide awake! Just kidding, I think that probably made it worse. Getting used to my new sleeping schedule was hard, but it has slowly been getting better. My parents and I toured the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and lots of different churches. Their architecture is really neat and with so much detail. My favorite thing so far has been the view from the tower of the Prague Castle!
March 15, my parents flew out of Prague and I was left to fend for myself in the great European country. That's when things all started to really hit me. I finally realized that this is what I'm going to be doing for the next three months of my life! I was about in tears. But I have recuperated since then.
I eventually met up with the rest of the 22 students for a four hour bus ride to Olomouc! We arrived at our university dorms, and we were all ready to crash, or at least I was. Erica, my roommate, and I were trying to figure out our rooms and where everything was at, and the first three people we saw had stopped and helped us! So far people have been friendly around the dorms, which is a good thing. My first day in Olomouc was rough because I felt so overwhelmed with everything. Once we start actually traveling I think things will get better. Only 77 more days until I am home! (Yes I have already started a countdown...)

Until next time:)
